Mugatoo’s All-Star Mile trophy has gone under the hammer reaching a winning bid of $30,000 in an online auction amongst connections on Tuesday.
The Kris Less-trained galloper won the $5 million All-Star Mile at The Valley in March.
“The policy with all our trophies is owners can bid for them on trophyauctions.com.au and then that money goes to the trainer to offset the horses training fees, so it benefits everyone,” Australian Bloodstock’s Jamie Lovett said.
“That should get them through for a while.
“Trophies have a value but it’s hard to know what they’re worth isn’t it.
“We think this is the fairest way and then they can bid for their lives then.”
The auction which went over six days and was knocked down to two of the horse’s owners after 32 bids were submitted.
“It’s an ownership of eight or nine longstanding clients and two of them paired up and bought it together so it can go between houses.”
Australian Bloodstock also sold Saunter Boy’s Australian Hurdle trophy via the online auction site recently for $2750.
Mugatoo’s trophy is the most expensive sold via trophyauctions.com.au with the Artorius’ Blue Diamond bracelet coming in second at $15,000.
Lovett said his group was looking forward to the return of Biscayne Bay in the spring. Australian Bloodstock acquired the Sebring filly from Sun Bloodstock after she won the South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes and have transferred her from Lindsay Park to Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
“We are really looking forward to seeing Biscayne Bay on her way to the Thousand Guineas,” Lovett said.
“She is about a month away from a trial and will stay in Victoria for the campaign.”
Biscayne Bay is a $26 chance with Sportsbet for the Thousand Guineas.
Duke Of Condicote is a new addition to also join the Maher and Eustace team from Australian Bloodstock – the four-year-old son of No Nay Never won his most recent start at Newmarket three weeks ago.
