Untapped New Zealand Gelding Hemsworth has joined the ever growing Australian Bloodstock team after impressing in two NZ trials.

The well bred Hemsworth by Reliable Man out of an unraced Zabeel mare Betty Blockbuster will join the Kris Lees stable who has recently tasted All-Star Mile success.

“He’s by the super consistent Reliable Man and from a mare who has produced 3 city grade horses and if we can get our bloke to that level we will be happy given the crazy amount of prize money these horses can win.” – Luke Murrell

Reliable Man is the sire of VRC Oaks Gr.1 Miami Bound, New Zealand Oaks Gr.1 winner Sentimental Miss, VRC Victoria Derby runner-up Sully, as well as Group 1 placed Belle du Nord, Hypnos and Aalaalune.

“He has a pedigree that says he will run 1600-2400m and if he can do this then there is some huge money on offer for these types of horses. My gut feel off the trials and times having seen 1000’s of horses trial is he has talent and should get to city grade.” – Luke Murrell

Lees Racing and Australian Bloodstock have formed a formidable partnership over recent years sharing huge success with multiple feature race wins including the $500, Provincial Championships Final at Randwick on Saturday with Cristal Breeze.

“Hemsworth is a lovely big strong horse, exactly what you would expect from a NZ bred stayer. He has the looks, movement and pedigree so we’re quite excited to see what he can do.” – Luke Murrell

The new Australian Bloodstock acquisition will be at the races towards the end of July and is one to keep your eye on as he gets over some ground!
