New Energy in his 3yr old season was one of the best horses in Europe and now having moved to Ciaron Maher and David Eustace after having a gelding operation has absolutely thrived and has come back a much more mature and importantly focused animal. New Energy was always a Group 1 horse in Europe but being a stallion – he was left a colt as long as possible but unfortunately his attitude was wondering and the hard decision had to be made to geld him in order to get the best out of him

All roads lead to the $5,000,000 King Charles in Sydney over the 1600m. A genuine world class horse New Energy has run 2nd in the 2000 Irish Guineas at Group 1 level and then when raced against possible one of the best milers in Europe in Kinross for a second also

The plan is he will arrive in Sydney to quarantine – do his mandatory 2 weeks and then go first up into the $5m King Charles and then either $1m Gong at Kembla or the $2m Villiers look logical progressions

Ciaron Maher recently commented “ he is just a beautiful horse and when I was over there ( UK) the change in his attitude has been remarkable- we obviously don’t need to improve him at all but that gelding looks to be the making of him and I couldn’t be more pleased- the beauty with these horses is you can target any race you like and you know they will be competitive- once we sort out the ownership we will sit down with them and make some final plans”. Currently $15 for the $5m King Charles he looks worthy of a bet now
