Raw Impulse debuted for the Darren Weir stable with an emphatic success at Moonee Valley last month before repeating the effort in the Selangor Turf Club Handicap (1800m).

Analysis: Raw Impulse (35.33 / 12.08) was far too good for his opposition here, sprinting home well from the second half of the field to win well. He was the only horse to break 36 seconds for his last 600m while his time for the sectional was .7 of a second quicker than his nearest rival Houdini The Great (36.04 / 12.61). Time will tell whether the difference was a reflection of the quality of Raw Impulse’s performance or the lack of depth of his opposition. The Warrnambool Cup will tell us what we want to know.
