Three-year-old filly Lunakorn produced the performance of the afternoon at Sandown on Wednesday with a decisive victory over the 1200m trip.

Her dominate triumph continued what had already been a terrific start to her campaign with a win already on the board for the daughter of Puissance de Lune.

But it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the Anthony Freedman trained galloper.

“She’s a quirky filly” Freedman Racing’s Assistant Trainer Sam Freedman explained.

“Her owners have shown a lot of patience and they are being rewarded now.

“This filly had a few issues early on that required some extra resolve but in time she seems to be coming right.

“A big thanks to Shane Bottomley for his assistance with this filly who we entrusted to do some remedial barrier work.

“She has always indicated that the ability was there, so it’s nice to see a performance like that this afternoon.”

The Freedman yard may now look at a couple of black type targets in Adelaide over the carnival but if Wednesday performance is any indication we are sure to see more of this talented filly.
