Master Represents Magic Cross

He cost $2,1 million so you’d like to think he could win a stakes race one day and that day was last Saturday for Master of Design, who is yet another stakes-winner bred on an extremely potent cross.
Winner of the Group II ATC Sebring Sprint, Master of Design (pictured as a yearling) is by Redoute’s Choice from the Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Urge to Merge and is the seventh stakes-winner bred that way.
According to Arion there have been 41 foals bred by Redoute’s Choice from daughters of Last Tycoon (IRE) and of those, 25 have raced and 22 have won, which equates to 88% winners to runners.
Even more impressive is the seven stakes-winners – Dariana, Drumbeats, Master of Design, Shaaheq, Estee, Provence, Lucky Unicorn – from 25 runners which is 28% stakes-winner to runner.
A highly successful shuttle sire, Last Tycoon is by the Northern Dancer sire Try My Best, who is a grand-son of celebrated producer Best in Show.
Best in Show is also the fourth dam of Redoute’s Choice, so all horses bred on this cross (Redoute’s Choice over Last Tycoon) automatically pick up a double cross of Best in Show, something that has enjoyed much success worldwide, producing 30 stakes-winners to date.
