The Cox Plate support for the Group I winning German import, Waldpark, continues after a string of bets on Sunday.
Waldpark was purchased by the team at Australian Bloodstock and has joined the Anthony Freedman stable.
He took out the 2011 Group I Deutsches Derby (2400m) but hasn’t won in 11 starts since. But during that time the son of Dubawi has finished runner-up on five occasions, only missing the top four twice.
“Waldpark has been heavily backed in our Cox Plate market. We went up $35 in mid-May, that was quickly taken.,” Luxbet’s Andrew Hawkins said.
“We took a single $1000 bet at $26 last week, while there was solid action yesterday with the largest bet $2000 at $19.
“He’s now $15, and there have already been bets taken at that price.”
Hawkins said aside from It’s A Dundeel “we’re holding more money on Waldpark than all other runners combined”.
“His last start form has held up very well, given he was only beaten a head by King George winner Novellist,” he said.
