The week ended in great fashion for AustralianBloodstock when new addition Villiers was produced over the Wyong Carnival on Friday. With an imposing record Villiers was set a task given the top weight and a wide barrier to start his campaign off and he produced an amazing performance. In a hot class 1 race on a dead to slow track Villiers was sent to the barriers the Favourite.

He began well in a race chock full of pace but unfortunately was unable to get any cover and as a result had to be content to sit 3 and 4 wide the trip. The race was further made all the more difficult with a tearaway leader and unfortunately it was Villiers who was working all the way and he had to do all the bullocking and do the chasing. Around the bend Hugh Bowman made his move to chase the leader and after a stirring performance Villiers produced a sustained run to grab the leader in the shadows of the post and win in what can only be described as an amazing effort.
The fact that the race was only run 3 lengths slower than the Group Class field of the Mona Lisa Stakes added further merit to his run.
After having the tough run its expected we will see him in 3 weeks at Warwick Farm and on that effort he is going to certainly one to follow
