In a blow to the TAB and corporate bookmakers around the country, our Caulfield and Melbourne Cups hopeful Lucas Cranach continues to please travelling foreman Lee Freedman over in Newmarket prior to entering quarantine next week.
Bookies have taken a massive hit from keen punters willing to get behind Australian Bloodstock’s German import.
“Lucas Cranach is easily our worst result so far this spring,” said TAB Sportsbet’s Glenn Munsie.
“He’s a big red runner in all of our cups markets at the moment.”
Lucas is all the rage around town with some very good international judges declaring that he has the best turn of foot of any import to travel to Australia.
Our trainer Anthony Freedman has been in dialy contact with brother Lee as he oversees the pre-export excercise program for Lucas Cranach, and has been very pleased with his 5 time Melbourne Cup winning brother’s assessment.
“Lee has a genuine liking for the horse and is very pleased with how he is progressing,” said Anthony.
“The horse has adapted really well to the changes we have made and is exactly where we want him at this stage.”
Lucas Cranach enters quarantine at Newmarket next week before arriving in Melbourne on the 24th of September.
