UATES tough win on the weekend has elevated him into some esteemed company. The Group 3 SKYLINE Win was ( never in doubt !!!) an amazing effort . When you consider what the horse has gone through this preparation one can only be amazed and concur with his trainer Kris Lees when he says
” he is the toughest horse i have trained “
which is a big statement when you consider the amount of war horses Kris has had through his stable.
The horse was first presented on the 24th of January at the Gosford Trails and when you watch the link below you will be amazed that this same horse not only recovered unscathed but would travel 4 hours to Port Macquarie just a few days later in 45 degree heat to attain his barrier certificate. At Port Macquarie he was unlucky to have a horse in his stall “go off” which caused him to rear up and smash his head on the stalls and giving him not only a severe headache but also two black eyes. Not to be Deterred he trialled exceptionally well and according to his jockey could have won by 10 lengths if he had wanted to. After travelling home in stifling heat he ate up as usual

Just 4 days after his trip away he was produced in an unsuitable 900m race at Newcastle in what locals describe as Newcastle’s hottest ever day. He sat 3wide on the speed and donkey licked his rivals to win impressively.
Given a short break the decision was made to take on the big boys to try and give him some competition as simply the locals couldn’t match it with him and he was sent out a raging Favourite on his debut at Royal Randwick. After travelling ungenerously in the run and still doing alot wrong he again demolished a field that the experts were saying was full or potential group horses.
After again attacking his feed bin and feeling cock-a-hoot and well within himself the decision was made to throw him in the depend and into a race that has provided some of Australia’s best sires.
A look through the past winners of the race would indicate its a genuine sires race. Past winners include : Show County, Sir Dapper ,Star Watch, Kenfair , Strategic ,Prowl,Shogun Lodge,Viscount,Choisir,Dance Hero, Snitzel,Casino Prince, Murtajill,All American, Manhattan Rain and Hinchinbrook
Again the bookmakers where taking no risks and keep him safe in the market and after still doing a few things wrong he again hit the lead where it counted to keep his record intact and remain unbeaten. The win then promoted his race rider to declare
“this is a serious race horse and he could in 6-12 months win a race like Stradbroke Handicap. He still doesn’t know what he is doing but boy is he a nice horse “
