The Group 1 Doncaster Mile is unlikely to be the end of the autumn road for All-Star Mile winner Mugatoo.
Connections will wait to see how the rising star pulls up from the run on April 10 before deciding where he will have his next run after the Doncaster.
Backing up in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes on April 17 is an option, while a trip north for the Doomben Cup on May 22 is also a possibility.
“It would be unlikely he backs up unless we got a good, soft track on Doncaster Day because he seems to bounce out of them. Firm tracks he needs a bit of time,” Australian Bloodstock’s Jamie Lovett said.
“If we got a good amount of rain and he could get his toe in … he came out of The All-Star Mile like he hadn’t had a run.
“It’s really only the start of his prep because he’s had The All-Star Mile as a tick-over race. It was a target race, but we always had the possibility of the Queen Elizabeth or the Doncaster.
“So he will go there and then he may go to the Doomben Cup. Then he might have one run into the Cox Plate.”
Mugatoo is currently a $4.60 favourite for the Doncaster with Sportsbet, with Mo’unga next in betting at $6.
